Unfortunately, these measured do not prevent infection by inhalation of small droplets exhaled by an infected person that can travel distance of meters or tens of meters in the air and carry their viral content. Science explains the mechanisms of such transport and there is evidence that this is a significant route of infection in indoor environments. Despite this, no countries or authorities consider airborne spread of COVID-19 in their regulations to prevent infections transmission indoors. It is therefore extremely important, that the national authorities acknowledge the reality that the virus spreads through air, and recommend that adequate control measures be implemented to prevent further spread of the SARS-CoV-2 virus, in particularly removal of the virus-laden droplets from indoor air by ventilation."

Инфографика Италии

Да, в Италии старейшая в Европе популяция, и коронавирус по ней ударил особенно серьезно.
Но я подозреваю, что и тестируют там, преимущественно, именно эту "группу риска", из-за чего ее доля в популяции больных- увеличивается, и составляет "значительную часть".
Но, мой акцент  на том, что:
В Италии на сегодня,
17306 заболевших Ковид-19 медиков
 Это больше чем 10% от всех диагностированных больных (162 тыс) в стране. И, они не "пенсионеры".
На 26 марта было 5 тыс заболевших медиков, из которых 41 умерли.
Если тенденция сохранилась,  то должно быть уже более 100 смертей среди медперсонала.
Какой грипп приводил к такому же эффекту, на вашей памяти?
На моей, никакой.

А что же с заболеваемостью Covid-19 медиков по США?

Еще недавно, отчетность по этому вопросу в США оставляла желать лучшего. Можно было самостоятельно накропать какие-то фрагментарные данные, и все.
"Experts and health officials who are trying to plan a response to the coronavirus outbreak are missing a critical piece of information — the number of health care workers who have tested positive for the disease.
Washington state faced the first major outbreak of COVID-19 in the nation, but health officials have not kept track of how many doctors and nurses have the disease. New York, the epicenter of the coronavirus outbreak, also lacks infection figures for medical staff, according to Jill Montag, a spokeswoman with the New York State Department of Health."
На сегодня есть информация  от СDC о том, что с 12 февраля по 9 апреля заболело 9282 медиков и 27 умерло.
Скудный, надо сказать, отчет.  Но хоть  что-то..
73% среди заболевших- женщины, средний возраст- 42 года.
10% из них нуждаются в госпитализации. 5%- в реанимации.
10 человек из 27 умерших были  65 лет и старше.
На сколько эта информация отвечает реальности по заболеваемости врачей и медсестер? 
Действительно ли на полмиллиона+ случаев больных, медработников из них только 1.5%?
Не знаю. Но сомневаюсь.
 Мне попадались данные по Калифорнии- и там, надо сказать, заболевшие медики тоже составляют  примерно 10% от всех заболевших Ковид-19.
"As of April 16, local health departments in the state reported 3,155 confirmed cases of COVID-19 among health care workers — more than 10 percent of all reported cases. "
Примерно как в Италии,  или в Китае.
В Испании- 14% случаев Ковид-19 - это мед. работники.
В Великобритании, 25% медиков или больны Ковид-19, или "самоизолироdаны" на карантине.
Там, кстати, тоже 27 смертей мед.персонала, как и в США.
Если следовать логике, то, и в США % заболевших медиков  должен быть в разы больше "отчетных" в СДС.

Ок, возьмем "фрагменты":
На 6 апреля, "Ohio, on the other hand, reported at least 16% of its cases involved health care workers, while in Minnesota, it was 28% on Wednesday."  В Вашингтоне (штат), "At least 88 health care workers in Snohomish County have tested positive for the coronavirus, out of 1,300 total cases (7%). In Yakima County, it’s more like 30%. However, officials in King County, home to the highest concentration of cases, don’t know how many health care workers have the disease."
"In Pennsylvania, 4.4% of the health care workforce had COVID-19 as of Monday. In Oklahoma, 10.6% of confirmed coronavirus patients worked in health care; in Ohio, that share is roughly 20%. Rhode Island, roughly 70% of COVID-19 tests are going to medical personnel, and they make up a quarter (25%) of all confirmed cases in the state.
Of the remaining states, it was a mixed bag.
 Выборочное тетсирование врачей Вашингтонского Универа (мед департмента) показало, что заражены 4.4% (включая переболеших, но еще заразных)
