“We know exactly where the so-called 'Supreme Leader' is hiding. He is an easy target, but is safe there. We are not going to take him out (kill!), at least not for now,” Trump said via social media. “But we don’t want missiles shot at civilians, or American soldiers. Our patience is wearing thin.”,
..there was something else that appeared to be top of mind for Mr. Trump during Monday’s meeting in Canada of the leaders of the Group of 7 industrialized nations: President Vladimir Putin of Russia.“The G7 used to be the G8,” Mr. Trump told reporters, referring to the group’s decision to eject Russia in 2014, after it attacked Ukraine and “annexed” Crimea, a prelude to its full-scale invasion.
He went on to blame former President Barack Obama and former Prime Minister Justin Trudeau of Canada for kicking Russia out, and argued that its inclusion in the group would have averted the war in Ukraine. (Mr. Trump was wrong — it was not Mr. Trudeau, but rather Stephen Harper, who was the Canadian prime minister at the time of Russia’s expulsion.)
“I would say that was a mistake,” Mr. Trump said, “because I think you wouldn’t have a war right now.”
And with that, Mr. Trump’s troubled history with the alliance repeated itself. When he attended the summit the last time it was held in Canada, in 2018, he called for Russia to be readmitted to the alliance. The suggestion angered and appalled allies, setting off a rift before Mr. Trump left the summit early, telling reporters on his way out: “They should let Russia come back in. Because we should have Russia at the negotiating table.” Mr. Trump’s argument on Monday was even more remarkable given that he returned to the summit three years after Russia escalated the aggression that got it ejected in the first place — launching an unprovoked invasion of Ukraine in 2022, with similar goals of seizing its territory. The scene on Monday illustrated how even more aligned Mr. Trump has grown with the Russian autocrat since his first time in office, and how alienated Mr. Trump has become from American allies who have rallied around Ukraine.
“Putin speaks to me; he doesn’t speak to anybody else,” Mr. Trump said, “because he was very insulted when he got thrown out at the G8, as I would be, as you would be, as anybody would be.”
Mr. тrump has spoken with Mr. Putin regularly, as recently as Saturday, when he said that the Russian leader had called him to wish him a “Happy Birthday” and spent more time discussing the Iranian-Israeli conflict than the war he started.
New York City Comptroller and Democratic mayoral candidate Brad Lander was arrested Tuesday by masked U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement agents inside federal immigration court in Lower Manhattan. Lander's office said he was taken into custody by ICE agents while observing court. He has been attending immigration hearings for the past several weeks to observe and, by his own account, help escort people out of court so they aren't arrested by ICE.
Democratic Reps. Dan Goldman and Jerry Nadler said they requested access to a U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement field office located inside the building and were denied.
"Even though we are allowed to show up unannounced by statute and we must be allowed in, we gave advance notice that we would be coming this morning. And they still denied our access," Goldman said Wednesday morning. "They said this is not a 'detention facility,' even though the statute very clearly says that we are allowed in to any facility that is being used 'to detain or otherwise house aliens.'" "This is ridiculous. If people are detained there, it's a detention center. Under these statutes, we have [an] absolute right, under Section 527, to inspect detention centers -- a right that was denied to us," said Nadler. "We can only wonder what they are hiding in these detention centers, or in this detention center, that they would deny us our absolute legal right to inspect it."
Minnesota state Rep. Melissa Hortman and her husband were killed, and state Sen. John Hoffman and his wife were wounded in politically motivated shootings early Saturday, Gov. Tim Walz said.
Hortman, 55, and her husband Mark, 58, were shot in their Brooklyn Park home, while Hoffman, 60, and his wife Yvette were shot about 5 miles away in their Champlin home. Investigators say they believe the suspect was dressed in a manner to appear like a police officer. The Hennepin County Medical Examiner's Office says the Hortmans each died from multiple gunshot wounds. Rep. Hortman was pronounced dead at the scene, while her husband died at North Memorial Health in Robbinsdale. Hortman, who leaves behind two children, was a member of the Democratic Party who represented Minnesota House District 34B. Hoffman, also a Democrat, represents Minnesota Senate District 34. Hoffman and his wife have one daughter. A family member said Yvette Hoffman shielded her daughter from the gunman.
Thompson says the suspect went to the homes of four Minnesota state lawmakers "with the intent to kill them." He said Boelter was disguised as a police officer, drove a black SUV with emergency lights turned on, and had a license plate that said "police." He carried a 9mm handgun, wore a black tactical vest and was disguised with a realistic silicone mask. Thompson says the suspect banged on the lawmakers' front doors in the middle of the night. Heavily armed and dressed in tactical armor with a silicone mask hiding his face and a police-style badge, Vance Boelter made a convincing police officer – so much so that a real police officer mistook him for a fellow cop. In the early hours of Saturday morning, Boelter went to the homes of at least four different Minnesota lawmakers
Boelter “embarked on a planned campaign of stalking and violence, designed to inflict fear, injure, and kill members of the Minnesota state legislature and their families,” according to the affidavit. Authorities say the attacks were highly planned. Boelter possibly spent months gathering personal information about his targets and other officials, and buying supplies for his attack.
Five firearms, including “semi-automatic, assault-style rifles,” were found in an SUV registered to Boelter and his wife, according to the affidavit. The vehicle was found parked outside the Hortmans’ home after the gunman fled on foot. There was also a “large quantity of ammunition organized into loaded magazines.”
His roommate said he had conservative political views, but rarely talked about politics and didn’t seem overtly political.
“He was a Trump supporter. He voted for Trump. He liked Trump. I like Trump,” lifelong friend David Carlson told The Post. “He didn’t like abortion.”
Two years ago, he claimed he was “currently in the Democratic Republic of Congo working on several projects,” adding that “Red Lion Group had a great meeting with the new Governor of Congo Central to talk about our private business projects that are all moving forward.” Boelter is also listed as the director of security patrols on the website of the Praetorian Guard Security Services, which uses a photo of him also shared by the FBI.
Praetorian Guard Security Services claimed to provide residential armed home security in Minnesota. However, his roommate Carlson said the company never had any clients or employees. “Vance has been involved with security situations in Eastern Europe, Africa, North America and the Middle East, including the West Bank, Southern Lebanon and the Gaza Strip.”
“We know exactly where the so-called 'Supreme Leader' is hiding. He is an easy target, but is safe there. After meeting with his National Security Council Tuesday to discuss the conflict, Trump wrote on Truth Social:
"We know exactly where the so-called 'Supreme Leader' is hiding..." referring to Iran's Ayatollah Ali Khamenei.
While he said there was no intention to kill Iran's leader "for now", he added "Our patience is wearing thin."
Minutes later, he posted in all capital letters: "UNCONDITIONAL SURRENDER!"
Trump had spoken to Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu by phone on Tuesday, according to a White House official.
