During a press briefing on Tuesday, the Centers for Disease Control said that a bigger outbreak in the U.S. is imminent.

“It’s not so much of a question of if this will happen in this country anymore but a question of when this will happen,” said Dr. Nancy Messonnier, director of the National Center for Immunization and Respiratory Diseases at the CDC.

Messonnier said that Americans “need to prepare for a significant disruption” to their lives and plan for possible school closures, find out about teleworking options and if their health care providers offer telemedicine options.

“We are asking the American public to prepare in the expectation that this could be bad,” she said.
The sudden urgency after weeks of emphasizing that the risk to the average American is “low” comes from the abrupt spread of the new coronavirus, officially termed COVID-19, in countries outside of China. Over the weekend, cases of coronavirus soared in Italy (283 cases and seven deaths), South Korea (977 cases and 10 deaths) and Iran (95 cases and 16 deaths). Austria and Croatia also said they’ve seen their first cases.
..“We’re asking folks in every sector as well as people within their families to start planning for this, because as we’ve seen from the recent countries that have had community spread, when it’s hit in those countries it has moved quite rapidly so we want to make sure that the American public is prepared.”

Люди и секторы - это да, имнадо быт готовыми к катастрофе.
Но главное- это чтоб начались реальные приготовления в больницах, лабораториях, и стали готовиться дополнителные "койко-места", закупаться аппараты для вентиляции легких,  и проходил тренинг медперсонала, и  не только он, чтоб можно было  работать в условиях эпидемии.

Да. Не все доживут до 21-го года. И дропнуть бы надо преподавание, и как-то никак.

да вот как то жизнь складывается, что "никак". причем у всех.
как буд-то есть более важные вещи, чем здоровье и жизнь.
люди, как белки в колесе.

да, лучше бы дропнуть, в смысле уменьшения интенсивности контактов с большим количеством людей...

ну, или по крайней мере, быть готовым дропнуть...

когда есть работа и школа, это не реально. система не позволяет выбыть.
точнее, выбыть можно, плюнув на все, -но встроиться будет трудно. К тому же, эта эпидемия не проскочит быстро.
единственный вариант- ухитриться легко переболеть.

Там, кажется, очень неоднородное распределение по возрасту, в смысле тяжести протекания болезни/смертности.

В общем, чем человек старше/более хрупкий по тем или иным причинам, тем больше смысла выбирать в пользу осторожности... А так да, легко переболеть - это и есть "естественная вакцинация".

ослабленным, больным, старым- любые инфекционные болезни даются тяжело и могут обернуться трагическим исходом. Ковид 19- не исключение.
