US trade officials finalized steep tariff levels on most solar cells from Southeast Asia, a key step toward wrapping up a year-old trade case in which American manufacturers accused Chinese companies of flooding the market with unfairly cheap goods. The petitioner group, the American Alliance for Solar Manufacturing Trade Committee, accused big Chinese solar panel makers with factories in Malaysia, Cambodia, Thailand and Vietnam of shipping panels priced below their cost of production and of receiving unfair subsidies that make American goods uncompetitive. Combined dumping and countervailing duties on Jinko Solar products from Malaysia were among the lowest at 41.56%. Rival Trina Solar’s products from its operations in Thailand face tariffs of 375.19%.Products from Cambodia would face duties of more than 3,500% because its producers elected not to cooperate with the US probe.
“These are very strong results,” Tim Brightbill, an attorney for the US manufacturing group, said on a call with reporters. “We are confident that they will address the unfair trade practices of the Chinese-owned companies in these four countries, which have been injuring the US solar manufacturing industry for far too long.”
Critics of the effort, including the Solar Energy Industries Association trade group, have said tariffs would harm US solar producers because they would raise prices on the imported cells that are assembled into panels by American factories.

The agency's latest actions will start the termination process for some 280 workers who were involved with environmental justice and diversity, equity and inclusion programs. Another 175 EPA employees were reassigned to new roles. “The agency also notified certain statutory and mission essential employees that they are being reassigned to other offices.” Увольнения  по требованию трампа: "President Trump was elected with a mandate from the American people. Part of this mandate includes the issuance of an Executive Order that directs the critical transformation of the Federal bureaucracy to empower American families, workers, taxpayers and our system of government itself," the memorandum says. "Thank you for your understanding and cooperation during this time."
Last month, the agency announced a massive rollback of environmental regulations, including key tenets of the Clean Air Act, and agency administrator Lee Zeldin promised to drive “a dagger through the heart of climate-change religion."

A newly revealed document shows Gov. Ron DeSantis' administration diverted $10 million in Medicaid dollars to a charity controlled by his wife.
Lawyers working with the state drafted a settlement agreement that said Florida’s largest Medicaid contractor, Centene, had overbilled taxpayers more than $67 million for medications, according to a copy of that document obtained by the Miami Herald/Times. But instead of returning all of that to state and federal taxpayers, the administration sent $10 million to the Hope Florida Foundation. Representatives for the firm told the newspaper that a donation to Hope Florida Foundation had not been discussed in their settlement talks, and the firm learned of the settlement through media reports "The money was then sent to two nonprofit organizations that aren’t required to report how they spend their funds," the Herald/Times reported. "Those 'dark money' groups later gave $8.5 million to a political committee overseen by DeSantis’ chief of staff in a series of transactions that some Republican lawmakers believe was illegal. "How Medicaid is allocated, which pays for healthcare services for the poor, is highly regulated."The draft agreement contradicts statements by the governor and other state officials claiming the money was a charitable contribution by Centene, which DeSantis said "was in addition to what they [the state] were getting.”

Although the US has the world's largest Christian population, President Donald Trump – who counts evangelicals among his most fervent supporters – deemed it necessary to sign an Executive Order creating the task force to counter "persecution" of the faithful. His cabinet contains several members with links to Christian nationalists, including Vice President JD Vance and Secretary of Defense Pete Hegseth. In memos seen by AFP, government employees have been told to provide examples of anti-Christian bias they have witnessed at work – providing dates and locations as well as the names of those involved. An email sent out Tuesday by Veterans Affairs Secretary Doug Collins asked staff to inform the department of any "informal policies, procedures, or unofficial understandings hostile to Christian views. Bondi said her task force would work with faith-based organizations and state-level bureaucracies to identify and "fix" abuses by the federal government."
The Washington-based liberal Interfaith Alliance lobby group has condemned Trump's focus on anti-Christian bias, arguing that the task force would aid organizations looking to circumvent anti-discrimination laws."There is no evidence of widespread anti-Christian bias in the United States, and perpetuating this myth is deeply offensive to the actual Christian persecution that happens in other countries around the world," it said in a statement after Trump created the task force.

5)  There's growing concern that President Donald Trump might invoke the Insurrection Act to bring National Guard troops under federal control and deploy them within the U.S.
